RECICLOS

RECICLOS is a technological solution that aims to achieve the EU Action Plan objectives of plastics, the most priority material. In 2030, 70% of plastics must be recycled. The main objective of RECICLOS is to promote plastic recycling focused on beverages bottles and cans to achieve the European Commission objectives.

We are creating the first computer application for mobile devices (app) to be launched in Spain to encourage waste recycling.  RECICLOS is an innovative model that rewards sustainable incentives and also makes technology its main advantage. The citizen takes a picture, recycles as usual in the corresponding container and accumulates points to receive sustainable awards. The points accumulated by the people who participate in RECICLOS can be exchanged for discounts on public transport, bicycle rentals for a greater contribution in reducing the environmental impact, discounts at local shops, collective projects that improve the municipality through environmental and social collaborating entities or donations to NGOs.

This easy recycling routine is possible thanks to 3 innovative technologies: blockchain, barcode recognition and Geolocalization. Rewarding is secured by tokenisations of funds and the usage of smartcontracts in Ethereum. To avoid fraud RECICLOS has an API connection with Scandit, a software that reads the barcode and identify if the object is a beverage bottle or can. All the containers are geolocalized to verify that the packaging has been thrown.
